Discovering of Oil and Gas Reserves across Africa

Many graduates across Africa have been following discovering of oil and gas reserves on the continent, and as a result the number of students from Africa studying The MSc in Project Management - specialisation in Oil & Gas with Atlantic Pacific Mission University increase from 10 in 2010 to 35 in 2011. The course is a comprehensive examination of the elementary economic patterns of the oil and gas industry. A student will gain an understanding of the economic nature and structure of the oil, gas and energy sectors and discover the project management aspects of sourcing energy, energy distribution, and sustaining energy supply chains.

Seismic tests over the past 50 years have shown countries up the coast of East Africa have natural gas in abundance. Early data compiled by industry consultants also suggest the presence of massive offshore oil deposits. Africa, a region they say is an oil and gas bonanza just waiting to be tapped, one of the last great frontiers in the hunt for hydrocarbons.

In 2007, London-based Tullow Oil, discovered some 2 billion barrels of oil in landlocked Uganda. In 2011, Texas-based oil company Anadarko Petroleum Corp. announced it had just tapped a giant reservoir of natural gas off the coast of Mozambique.
